SoulMatch is a matchmaking service for devotee families. Almost everything here exists to answer one question: who can see what you have told us. The short answer is that your profile is never public, and the details that identify you are held back until you decide otherwise.

What we collect

Only what you enter, plus what is needed to run the service.

  • About you — name, date of birth, gender, height, where you live, marital status, diet, languages, education, occupation, employer, income band, and what you write about yourself.
  • Your spiritual life — rounds chanted, initiation, guru, temple, daily practices and services.
  • Your family — the background you choose to describe.
  • Photographs — your own, and optionally one of your altar at home.
  • Birth details — date, time and place, only if you want astrological matching. All three are optional except the date.
  • References — the temple or counsellor you ask to confirm they know you, and their reply.
  • Contact details — your phone number and email.
  • Payment records — the amount and a reference. Card and UPI details are handled by Razorpay and never reach us.

We do not ask for a government ID and we do not hold one. A passport or Aadhaar scan is the most damaging thing a service like this could lose, and the harm of losing it would fall on you rather than on us. We verify through your temple and your community instead, which is the assurance that carries weight here anyway.

What other members can see

Your profile is not public. There is no directory, no search and no way for a member to look you up. We show your details to one family at a time, when we think a match is worth their attention.

What they are shown is a restricted view of your profile. It is restricted in the database, not in the app — the columns simply are not there to be read.

Never shared with another member, at any point: your date of birth, your employer, your exact address and your birth time.

Your age is shown; your date of birth is not. They are different things and we treat them differently.

Your phone number and email are shared only after both families have agreed to be introduced. Not when we propose a match, and not if the other family says no.

Photographs

Every photograph is re-encoded before it is stored, which removes the location data your phone records inside the image. We never keep the original file. Photographs are held in private storage; there is no public link to them.

Who else can see your information

  • Our matchmakers. To match you at all, a person has to read your profile. Every time one of them looks up a member's contact details it is recorded with their name against it.
  • Family you invite. If you invite a parent or guardian, they can act on your profile and see your matches. They cannot read your private messages.
  • Nobody else. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Deleting your profile

You can delete your profile yourself, at any time, from Settings. We do not keep your data afterwards.

Deleting removes your answers, your photographs and your altar photo, your phone number, your preferences and family notes, your references, and any shortlists or conversations. The files are removed from storage as well as the records that point at them.

Two things survive, and neither identifies you. If you tell us why you are leaving, that reason is kept without your name, profile or account attached to it. And where we are required to keep a record of a payment, we keep the amount and reference, not your profile.

Your sign-in account remains, so you can start again later if you wish. Nothing from the old profile comes back.

How long we keep things

While your profile is active, and until you delete it.

Your choices

  • Pause your profile at any time, from Settings.
  • Turn astrological matching off. Nothing is then calculated, in either direction.
  • Edit or remove any answer, including photographs.
  • Delete everything, as above.
  • Ask us what we hold about you. Write to us and we will tell you.
